Day Sixteen

Today we went to a place called 'Fountain Hills' which was very pretty, yet the houses there are very expensive! They even had a shaded car park for Bashas'... luxury, especially in the 107F heat today.

Tried to get there just in time to see the fountain, which goes off on the hour..every hour. Just about made it after we all fell out of the car and ran to get there in time..right as we decided to go to the bar instead. Typical.

The bar was called Sofrita's, which was a Puerto Rican bistro that made the most fabulous drinks. - needless to add that the trip to Bashas' was inspired by this...with a trolly full of various alcohol and flavoured vodkas in attempt to re-create the drinks ourselves.

FOUNTAIN HILLS:

- has the worlds fourth tallest fountain
-The fountain, driven by three 600 horsepower (450 kW) turbine pumps, sprays water at a rate of 7000 gallons per minute through an 18-inch nozzle
With all three pumps under ideal conditions, the fountain reaches 560 feet (170 m) in height
- In normal operation only two of the pumps are used, with a fountain height of around 300 feet (91 m) feet
- When built, it was the world's tallest fountain and held that record for over a decade.
